Academic Center is in front of the Stump Library on the north side of the building.
Please call 773-298-4400 if you need a shuttle to/from the Visual Arts Center.

General Policy: The primary purpose of the SXU parking and vehicle code enforcement policy is to provide clear and consistent procedures and enforcement guidelines in order to maintain pedestrian safety and orderly vehicular movement and parking on campus. All regulations are in effect and enforced throughout the calendar year. The University reserves the right to amend the regulations as may be deemed necessary. During special events, certain areas may be designated as reserved parking zones. The responsibility of finding a legal parking space is the sole responsibility of the vehicle operator. Inability to find a convenient parking space is not an excuse for violating University parking regulations.
Please Note: During severe rainstorms, some parking lots may flood.
In the event that the violator or registered owner who is issued a parking citation does not pay the fine at the Office of Public Safety within the specified 14 days after the issuance of the citation, Public Safety will forward fines to the Office of Student Accounts for collection. Public Safety also reserves the right to forward fines to a collection agency for payment. In some cases, a hold shall be placed on the violator's ability to conduct any University business. A letter shall be sent to the last known address of the violator notifying them of the hold, any increased fine, and advisement that the University reserves the right to use a collection agency to collect fines.
Individuals wishing to appeal a citation may obtain appeal forms at the Office of Public Safety. An appeal must be filed in writing during the initial 14-day period after the date upon which the citation was issued. The filing of an appeal stays or holds the assessed fine until after the appeal is heard by the appeals committee.
An appeals committee will be appointed by the chief of police/director of Public Safety. The chief of police or a designee will also have a seat on the committee as a non-voting member.
If the appeals committee rules in favor of the appellant, Public Safety shall issue a letter advising that the appeal was granted and the ticket is no longer active. If the appeals committee does not grant the appeal, Public Safety shall issue a letter to the address on the appeal form advising that the appeal was denied and that the fine must be paid within 15 days of the date of issuance of the letter.
Fines collected shall be deposited into the student parking fine account to be utilized for the purchase, repair and maintenance of law enforcement-related equipment.
View the SXU Campus Map which details the locations of all University parking lots, shuttle stops and emergency telephone locations.
Parking is not permitted at any time in fire lanes, designated handicapped parking zones, or marked designated spaces. If unloading passengers and/ or packages, a vehicle may utilize loading zone parking spaces with hazard lights flashing, provided the duration of the use does not exceed five minutes. Citations will be issued for any vehicle unlawfully parked in these areas.
The enforcement of parking and traffic regulations is the responsibility of the chief of police/director of Public Safety.
There is no authorized University parking on 103rd Street, Central Park Avenue, South Lawndale Avenue, South St. Louis Avenue, South Spaulding Avenue, neighboring side streets, or adjacent schools, churches or businesses. The Chicago and Evergreen Park police departments patrol these areas. Vehicles parked illegally on the streets or private property around the University may be ticketed and towed. Under Illinois law, University police are authorized to regulate and control traffic on the public way, adjacent to University property.
Guests remaining overnight must register their vehicle with the resident hall Public Safety desk officers after their stay has been approved by an RA. Guest vehicles are permitted to park in Lot 7, which is located east of Morris Hall. All unauthorized vehicles left on campus after 2 a.m. are subject to being cited and towed at the owner's expense. Vehicles are prohibited from parking overnight in Parking Lot 2.
There are approximately 1,700 parking spaces available for student, faculty, staff and visitor use at the campus.
Residential Students who will have a vehicle on campus are required to register their vehicle and obtain a residential parking permit from the Public Safety Department Administrative Offices located in the Campus Service Center Building -- Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The parking permit will be displayed in the upper passenger side of the vehicle's rear window.
Overnight residential guests that have a vehicle on campus are required to register their vehicle and obtain an overnight guest parking pass from the Public Safety Officer of the Residence Hall that the guest is staying in. Public Safety will verify with Residence Line (RA) that the guest has been approved.
All overnight guests are required to park vehicles in lot 7 (along Central Park Ave.).
There may be occasions when it is necessary to stay late in the evening. If requested, Public Safety officers can provide a safety escort to your vehicle. Officers will respond as soon as possible, however, emergency or high-priority calls may delay the response for the escort. If this occurs, students should remain in a secure location. The Campus Police/Public Safety supervisor will evaluate and address late-night escort requests to or from off-campus University housing. Where conduct violations may be involved, the on-duty hall director will also be notified and respond with Public Safety. To request an escort, contact the Public Safety dispatcher at 773-298-4400 or use any of the interior emergency phones or any of the exterior emergency phones.
During the academic year, Public Safety provides a shuttle bus service for students, faculty and staff. Shuttle service runs from 7:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and until 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
The University also operates a weekend shuttle service from noon until 8:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The shuttle makes transports to several off-campus stops and to local businesses.
For information concerning shuttle routes and schedules, please see our Shuttle Bus Schedule.
Illegally parked or abandoned vehicles on campus may be towed away at the owner's expense when the vehicle blocks the efficient flow of traffic, interferes with snow removal activity, or is parked illegally or in a restricted area (e.g., handicapped reserved, fire lanes or grass areas), or for unpaid parking citations.
University police officers are authorized to place notice on abandoned or unattended
vehicles left on the campus beyond posted closing hours and for more than 24 hours,
which will result in the vehicle being towed. University police shall make a reasonable
attempt to notify the owner prior to towing the vehicle, per this section.
The University utilizes a licensed police tow company:

Enforcement and Payment Information
Parking citations may be issued by University Public Safety for infractions of parking and equipment regulations. Citations issued to any vehicle parked in violation of any of the provisions shall be issued to the registered owner of the vehicle, who shall be responsible for such violation and all related penalties. However, if the identity of the person operating the vehicle at the time of the violation can be determined, the citation may be issued to said operator in lieu of the registered owner, and that person shall be held accountable for the violation and all related penalties.
All fines should be paid in the Public Safety office located in the Campus Service Center. After the 14-day appeal period, fines should be paid in the Office of Student Accounts located in the Warde Academic Center.
After 14 days, unpaid citation fines will automatically be charged a $5 late fee. Where applicable, student or employee accounts will be charged the original fine and late fee.
Unpaid citations will be forwarded monthly to the Office of Student Accounts and charged to the vehicle owner's account.
The registered owner is responsible for all traffic and parking citations and fines for that vehicle, regardless of who was using it (unless previously reported stolen).
Note: The safety and welfare of all individuals utilizing campus property will always be strictly enforced. Saint Xavier University reserves the right to tow a vehicle at the owner's expense. Storage, abandonment and incurred payments will be the responsibility of the vehicle's owner.
